My buddy was shooting rifled slugs out of his short barreled tactical mossberg(not sure of barrel length but, it’s short) all day yesterday and was pretty much dead on. He only missed a few times but, was seeing where they hit the ground. The cops show up and asked them if they’d been shooting and then the cops told them that one of the slugs went thru the neighbors window. It didn’t mushroom or anything. Simply, went thru the window and stopped. It was laying on the floor untouched right below the window. The house is probably close to 600 yards away from where they were shooting and it’s prob. a sharp 45 degree angle from where they were aiming. The slug had to pass thru some pretty thick stuff before it would even reach the house. When we shoot there we’re always cautious and behind us where we aim all the time there’s nothing.

Thanks god no one was hurt or worse and good thing they know the neighbor.

What in the world would have made that slug go all crazy like that? Anybody had this happen to them before? Any and all suggestions on what could’ve have caused this is appreciated. Thanks.

For all you guys that are thinking about trapping this next year, a good starter is to go to a trapping organization meet. The KY Fur Takers will be having their spring meet at the Pritchard Community Center on March 20th, starting at 8 am. There will trapping demos on bobcat snaring and trapping, snare making and snaring, and raccoon handling. There will also be a Trappers’ Flea Market.

It’s important to be a member of a trapping organization, your learning curve is accelerated by exchanging information with veteran trappers.

Not long ago my father bought a new bow, and we had a small problem. So I decided to call Joe and see what he could tell me. With no hesitation, he said ‘let me call Matt at C.P and we will get this all worked out’. Not five minutes later Joe called me back and said ‘box up the bow, and we will have a new bow in the mail A.S.A.P’. Never in my life have I ever been so impressed with the customer service that I received.
it was truly AWESOME! it is easy to see that Joe and Oneida really care about their customers. Not to mention, I sent my BE to Joe in December to be rebuilt and it cost more than I had expected. When I called and asked if I could pay in February he said that that would not be a problem and almost sounded surprised when I thought he might be upset. When I received my bow in late February I was absolutely amazed at the work Joe had done for me(you can see the pics in my profile). Also my cousin Matt was interested in purchasing his first bow but was on a tight budget. I called Joe and he set me up with a totally rebuilt and custom fitted Oneida Strike Eagle for a very good price. Upon arrival, both Matt and I were amazed at the condition of the bow. After all it is a 1991 but you would never know that by looking at it (you can also see this bow in my pics). In closing, if you are interested in Oneida bows, don’t hesitate to come visit Joe’s website at www.oneidebows.net and I’m sure he would be glad help you out.

The ladder test is a good article but it looks like from the pictures shown that the rifles used are customs jobs that the average guy could not afford with a mortgage, kids and understanding wife ,etc. So what would i look for in the average load development at 100yds? I have tried the ladder test and found my results to differ from the published data as i shoot a factory rifle out of the box. Plus the extra expense of firing so many rounds to develop a load? My loads were not as published because the loads were scattered. I shot from a solid shooting rest on all the load development. I changed nothing from OAl to powder or primers. They all grouped about 2 1/2 inches at 100yds. From the recommened start to max load. Most of the grouping was to the left and some were lined up dead center but high at 100yds. Some loads were touching which were about 1 gr apart and some would be about 1" apart or more that were 1/2 gr aprt? Loads were 1/2 gr apart on development. I did not change from my previous zero which was at 200yds. So what would i be looking for ? Am I missing some thing here?
